Isn't this a Sweet Handbag?... I mean, CAKE! This is actually a 5 layer, 24 carat Golden Butter cake with Chocolate Fudge Buttercream filling, and decorated to look like a designer handbag! The gems and pearls surrounding the purse, um, I mean Cake, are all edible sugar. In fact, EVERYTHING is edible sugar, including the "hardware"! This cake was donated to raise moneys for Child Abuse Prevention, and I am VERY pleased to share that it secured a very pretty price! Yeah!

This Rich, Chocolate cake is filled with Whipped Chocolate Ganache and fresh Raspberries, covered in a silky Swiss Meringue Buttercream icing and wrapped in White Chocolate Fondant. This unusual wedding cake is a lovely chocolate cake with fresh strawberry filling, and untraditionally iced in a dark chocolate brown chocolate buttercream! The bride and fire fighter groom figurines, as well as the ladder, were all hand made out of various sugar materials. The fire truck is decorated with buttercream (no fondant allowed in this order), with gelatin front windows.

This birthday cake was for 2 women and 2 boys. The entire cake and the snow people were completely edible, except for their arms. The cake was a White Velvet Cake with White Chocolate Cream Cheese icing. The snow people were made out of cake, and fondant, with a little bit of buttercream icing for the snowballs! The snow bunkers were formed out of rice crispy treats and covered with fondant.

Bridal Shower Gift Box cake: Cherry-scented Chocolate and Almond White cake were the delicious interior of this "gift," filled and wrapped in silky buttercream icing. The "tissue" paper was made out of gum paste and fondant, and the bow and ribbon were made from gelatin! The gift card, made from gum paste, actually fits inside the gelatin envelop that is sitting on top of the box lid, beside the bow.

This was a twist on my Tuxedo Cake: Dark Decedent Chocolate cake on the bottom layers, Sour Cream White cake on the top layers and a yummy Raspberry Cream filling. I made 4 gum paste Cymbidium Orchids and 8 roses. Gum paste swirly's and a fountain-like topper made with glass beads, (that will now become earrings and necklace for the new Bride!) The color matched the wedding theme color perfectly! *A very special note about this cake is that the Groom came to the cake consultation, by himself, and planned ALL of the details of this cake, as a surprise to his beautiful bride. Awwwwwww.

This Red Velvet Foot Cake was made to ease the pain and recovery of an ANKLE REPLACEMENT patient... It's actual scale was approximately the same as a man's size 12, with a proper arch! The entire cake was edible, covered in fondant. Even the ace bandage and clips are made of fondant. The recipient of this cake was well pleased.

Watered in the Word

This cake is for my church's summer Women's Bible Study program, "Watered in the Word" and highlights the scripture verses from Titus 2:3-5, "... the older women ... can train the younger women ... so that no one will malign the word of God. "

My cake is a mountain waterfall scene, with an open Bible on the mountain top. Water (the starting point for the waterfall) will begin flowing from the words, "Word of God" and cascade down the cake/waterfall, concluding at the base of the cake, which is a pool. There are two women, an older and younger woman, highlighting the mentorship relationship, standing under the waterfall. They are filled with joy as they raise their hands to the Lord, each touch the flowing waters. Surrounding them are a mountain meadow and also the reason that they are at this location: their picnic and Bible study scene!

All of the elements in this cake were made from sugar! Fondant, Gum Paste, Royal Icing, ButterCream Icing, Piping Gel.

The Cakes were Apple/Pear and Applesauce cake with Cream Cheese filling, and Hazelnut Cake with Marionberry Cream Filling.

Hand-made gum-paste sugar Cymbidium Orchids, Roses, Babies Breath and Stephanotis beautifully decorate this wedding cake. The top two tiers were carrot cake with a delicious cream cheese filling, and the bottom tier was a dark chocolate cake with chocolate and cherry fillings. It was blanketed in fluffy butter-cream, and finished with butter-cream swag draping.

Maryhill Museum Chapeaus at the Chateau: High Tea and Hat Auction

These are the CAKES that I made and donated to the Maryhill Museum "Chapeaus at the Chateau: High Tea and Hat Auction." The cake was a rich butter yellow cake, torted and filled with blueberry and lemon fillings. There are only 2 elements that are NOT edible: the PEACOCK FEATHER on the Hat cake (which was added as a nod to the venue, as there are live Peafowl roaming the grounds), and the gold braid cord on the Hat Box Cake. Both cakes were hand painted. The Hat cake is decorated with wafer paper feathers, gum paste Calla Lily and leaves, and a Modeling Chocolate Rose.

I was so pleased as people expressed surprise, shock and awe when they discovered that these were CAKES!

The boarder is whipped ganache, and this cake is decorated with modeling chocolate roses. The cake was then sprinkled with Gold luster dust. It was delicious!

This cake was created to celebrate my folks 50th wedding anniversary! There are 25 gum paste Calla Lilies and 25 roses (combination of gum paste and buttercream), totaling 50 flowers. This symbolism is two different flowers coming together to make a beautiful blooming basket, just as two people have come together to make a beautiful life. The basket weave is done in buttercream, and the cake is fresh lemon with blueberry filling and a layer filled with lemon curd. It was very yummy!

This beauty has 30 hand made gum paste poppies and 14 hand made gum paste roses. The top 8" cake was lemon with raspberry filling, the 12" cake was carrot with cream cheese filling, and the 16" cake was tuxedo (chocolate layer and wedding white layer) with whipped chocolate ganache filling. There was also a 12x18" double sheet that was vanilla cake with buttercream icing.

This was the most delicious and decedent chocolate cake that I have ever made. Deep, dark, moist chocolate cake filled with whipped ganache, topped with a dark poured ganache, and then decorated with chocolate buttercream icing. The gum paste flowers represent the first daffodils that I have made. This cake was a wonderful crowd pleaser for my friend, Carol the master gardener's, 50th birthday party.

Autumnal Gingerbread House

This Autumnal Ginger bread House is, of course, made out of Ginger bread! The roof is shingled with candy corn, and the ridge is lined with dark M&M's. Dark M&M's decorate the gable. Melted sugar have been poured to created the windows. I've sculpted tootsie rolls to look like logs in a log pile, which is right next to a tootsie roll chopping stump. A gum paste ax is driving into a "log" that is being chopped. Candy corns decorated with royal icing "fall leaves" make a tidy hedge surrounding the house. The pumpkin patch has candy corn pumpkins and candy coated sunflower seeds to represent small gourds and fall squash. The walk to the front door is paved with candy coated sunflower seeds, where there is a cheery entrance to the house that is lit with a single yellow M&M. The dark green grass finishes the landscape, ending at a royal icing boarder.

This cake was for my Church's Sunday School Teachers training meeting, whose theme is "Busy Bees: Making BEE-lievers in Jesus Christ". I made the little bees out of gum paste and strung them on "invisible" tread, hanging from floral wire. Gold Luster Dust gives a realistic looking "pollen" dusting to the busy bees wings. The spice cake is carved and decorated to look like the hive. I left the icing "rough" with air bubbles to give it an organic texture. I think it turned out pretty cute!

Talavera Tile Table with Calla Lilies in Vase

This cake is ALL edible! I made the "Talavera Tiles" out of fondant, cutting individual 2" x 2" tiles, shaped the corner tiles and allowed all of them to dry completely. They were then hand painted with gel color diluted with vodka (this evaporates and allows the gel color to dry), allowing each color to dry before painting the next color. The envelope and birthday card were also made out of fondant, with the same painting technique. The Calla Lilies were made out of Gum Paste, and "dry-painted" with luster dust and then quickly steamed over a pot of boiling water to set the colors. Buttercream icing was used to cover all of the cakes, and also as "grout" for the tiles. The tile covered "table" and the flower vase were chocolate cake with a hint of cinnamon, to keep with the Mexican "flavor" of this cake theme. Happy Birthday Susie!
